Ding Dong the King is Dead

In the midst of a horrible plague that affected the entire land, it happened. Viscount Handsy toppled King Orange the second Tuesday in November, in the year 2020. There was great rejoicing across the land. Masked people gathered in the streets cheering, cracking open bottles of champagne. The Empire State Building turned red, white and blue. The Republic was back.

All was not well however. Over 70 million people still voted for King Orange. Many of them, brainwashed that the election was stolen from him, protested at state capitols as electors gathered to vote. Many were white supremacists and self-styled militia members carrying semi-automatic rifles.

On January 6th, 2021, a violent mob attacked the Capitol after no other than King Orange himself spoke at a rally. Congress had convened that day to officially certify the election results. The attack turned deadly. Five people lost their lives. Members of Congress managed to escape and hide in safe, undisclosed locations throughout the Capitol.

Fortunately for the newly restored Republic, Congress prevailed. Viscount Handsy took the oath of office on Inauguration Day, January 20th. Sanity, integrity, and decency, and dogs returned to the White House.

As the year drew to a close, however, KIng Orange had still not conceded that he had lost. The wheels of justice continued to grind ahead as members of the mob were held to account. Everyone except King Orange.
